eLaw® Chosen as Best Docketing and Calendaring Software
in 2015’s New York Law Journal Reader Rankings

For fifth consecutive year, New York legal community names eLaw No. 1

NEW PROVIDENCE, N.J. – September 17, 2015 – eLaw, the leading Web-based platform that provides critical and up-to-date court-related case information, was recognized for the fifth consecutive year as the Best Docketing and Calendaring Software in the sixth annual New York Law Journal (NYLJ) Reader Rankings survey. eLaw was chosen as the winner from 15 other contenders and open write-ins for New York state.

Published since 2010, the New York Law Journal Reader Rankings is not a scientific study or an editorial analysis but rather it is a democratic process; the program is run by the NYLJ sales and marketing teams at ALM. In 2015, more than 8,400 legal professionals cast their votes in an online survey composed of 100-plus categories, encompassing the areas of Technology, Research, Accounting, Insurance, Financial Services, Litigation Support, Real Estate, Education, Recruiting & Staffing as well as Lifestyle and Client Entertainment. In total, over 500 firms were listed on the official online ballot, and voters were also given the option of writing in any firms not seen listed; approximately 300 firms received votes via the write-in option. Only legitimate end users (attorneys, paralegals, legal assistants, etc.) were allowed to vote.

eLaw provides the local knowledge required by legal professionals to productively manage caseloads by searching and monitoring court dates and events. Subscribers have access to federal, state and select local and appellate courts in New York and New Jersey. eLaw’s features and benefits include:

  • Ensuring that subscribers never miss a court appearance in New York and New Jersey
  • Covering all 62 Supreme Court counties and five City Civil courts
  • Providing filing alerts for New York and Kings County clerk minute books
  • Notifying subscribers when subpoenaed records have arrived at the courts
  • Conducting searches using index numbers or litigant names
  • Eliminating manual data entry and errors by syncing with case management software, including Lawex Corp.’s TrialWorks™, Legal Labs Inc.’s LexPI, LexisNexis’ Time Matters™, Needles Inc.’s Needles® and SmartAdvocate LLC’s SmartAdvocate®
  • Ensuring office and on-the-go access by seamlessly syncing appearances with calendars, including Microsoft® Outlook® and Google as well as Apple® iPhone® and Android™ smartphones and tablets

The top three award winners in all categories were listed this week in a special supplement of the New York Law Journal.

eLaw® Introduces Do-It-Yourself Management Reports

9/9/2015

New feature helps eLaw subscribers track ever-changing court deadlines and schedules

NEW PROVIDENCE, N.J. – September 9, 2015 – eLaw, the leading Web-based platform that provides critical and up-to-date court-related case information, announces today the introduction of do-it-yourself Management Reports covering all 62 New York Supreme Courts and five City Civil Courts. Because court rules and litigation schedules are constantly changing, the new Management Reports were developed to provide customized information to help subscribers keep track of outstanding motions, court deadlines and appearance schedules.

The Management Reports allow paid eLaw subscribers to get high-level and detailed views, such as outstanding motions that include their history. With future appearance reports, subscribers can view all of their appearances for any date range they select. Management Reports also feature the courts’ standard and goals on each case, a list of all notified parties and how many times a case has appeared on a trial calendar. All of the reports have the option of exporting the information in either a Microsoft® Excel® or PDF format. All customized reports can be saved as a template and run at any time in the future.

The Management Reports can be refined by case name, file or matter number, county, appearance date, judge, part/room, motion relief sought, comments, motion status, request for judicial intervention (RJI) date, note of issue (NOI) date and much more. Subscribers also can sort the results in ascending or descending order.

The Management Reports fall into six main categories:

  • My Future Supreme Appearance Calendar
  • My eWatch cases/Standard & Goals
  • My Supreme eWatch cases/Notify Parties
  • Supreme Pending Motion History
  • My Future Civil Appearance Calendar
  • My Civil eWatch cases/Notify Parties

For more information about Management Reports, current and prospective eLaw subscribers can contact eLaw Executive Director Dominick Esposito at (973) 642-1440, ext. 170, or dominick@elaw.com to schedule a 10-minute online demonstration or an office visit.

eLaw Calendar Solutions – Never Miss An Appearance!

Busy attorneys know that an up-to-date calendar can be the lifeblood of a successful practice. Deadlines and appearances are scheduled and changed on a regular basis, and missing one can be costly. eLaw offers five calendar solutions to meet a variety of needs and help ensure you never miss an appearance:

eCalendar – all eWatch subscribers have access to their own eCalendar, eLaw’s Web-based calendar that automatically syncs all future appearances. While notes about the case or attachments cannot be inserted, eCalendar is always up-to-date with the latest schedule changes or new appearances to ensure nothing is missed.

eWatch subscribers also have the option to upgrade, free of charge, to eLaw’s Calendar Sync. This feature automatically syncs all future appearances in one of the following calendar options based on the needs of each firm:• Microsoft® Outlook® – allowing for the insertion of notes and attachments by the law firm, eLaw automatically updates future appearances in the user’s Outlook calendar. A non-editable Google Calendar placed as an overlay into Outlook is also available.
• Existing Google Calendar created and managed by an individual at the law firm – allowing for the insertion of notes and attachments by the user, eLaw automatically updates future appearances in the user’s Google calendar.
New Google Calendar created and managed by eLaw – eLaw automatically updates future appearances in the Google Calendar. This is a non-editable Google Calendar by the user.

• eDocket’s iCal – eDocket subscribers can use the iCal* feature and manually import appearances directly into their Microsoft Outlook. Users can insert notes and attachments just as with other Outlook entries.

Contact Dominick Esposito at Dominick@eLaw.com to determine which calendar suits your law firm’s needs or for instructions on how to sync your calendar.
